Employees – A Perishable Resource

I get so sick of hearing employees being called “our company’s most valuable asset.”  And they are most likely sick of it too!

People are not assets, they are a resource.  A resource that can and will come and go as it pleases.  The global economy in which we live and work makes that possible now more than ever.

“Because I can work anywhere in the world from the comfort of my couch, why would I choose to get in my car and come work for you?”  That is the question you must be able to answer, tailored to the individual asking it.

Yep, it’s an employee’s market.  And regardless of the economy it always will be.  So, keep treating them like assets and watch them perish.  Treat them like the vital human resource that they are, and watch them and your business grow.

Not sure how to do that?  Ask them!
