About — Kay Stroman
Kay Stroman, SPHR, is the owner of The Stroman Group, LLC, and is a seasoned Human Resources and business professional. She possesses a multidimensional understanding of the workplace and its needs based on her more than 20 years of experience in the profession, including more than 17 years at the senior leadership level. She was most recently Vice President of Human Resources for Grande Communications before leaving to pursue an independent business coaching and consulting career.
Kay’s expertise and strategies were built from direct, hands-on experience throughout all the stages of an organization’s life cycle. Her demonstrated passion and ability engages leaders and employees at all levels to build and nurture positive, cross-functional team dynamics. She has a talent for instilling the value of human potential in every process, which is what sets Kay apart from other human resource professionals.
Kay’s background includes building and leading fully functioning HR teams responsible for staffing, compensation and benefits, employee relations, training and development, internal communications, and safety. Her experience also includes executive staffing, coaching and development, and quality assurance. She knows how to effectively lead an organization through all facets of growth and change, with a direct, no-nonsense and authentic communication style.
Kay focuses her practice in the areas of leadership coaching and development, conflict resolution and organizational development (OD) initiatives. OD initiatives include business transitions (start-ups, M&A, downsizing, restructuring), HR function development, employment branding, employee value proposition alignment, and internal communications. She also provides career coaching and counseling to individuals in transition.
A Central Texas native, Kay holds a BA in political science and speech communication fromTexasStateUniversity. She is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), a trained professional life and leadership coach, a trained professional mediator, and is a Certified Professional Behavioral Analyst utilizing the DISC language. She is the Vice Chair of the Texas State College of Liberal Arts Advisory Board and Executive Director for Leadership San Marcos.
Kay has previously served on the board of The Texas Council on Family Violence and National Crisis Hotline, the San Marcos Economic Development Council and the executive committee of the Texas Association of Business and Chambers of Commerce.
Her professional affiliations include SHRM, AHRMA, HCHRMA, Texas Mediator Credentialing Association. The Stroman Group, LLC is HUB certified with the State ofTexas.
